Monochromatic Dressing

This week I want to talk about MONOCHROMATIC DRESSING.

Do you want to look long and lean? Sexy and sophisticated? Monchromatic dressing is the very definition of this goal. When you dress head to toe in the same color or several versions of the same hue, you create a lengthening, slimming effect. There is nothing to chop up the look. The eye travels up and down seamlessly. When you wear a bold color such as red, you will have a dramatic, very glam appearance. When you choose all black, navy, dark brown or charcoal grey-the darker shades, the look will be smart and slenderizing. When putting together softer colors, pale pink, beige, dove grey, etc., you will create a lovely soft focus look, elegant and understated.

Whatever you want to express-drama or refinement, you can achieve it easily by wearing a monochromatic look. It's such a simple way to step up your style factor. Two things to keep in mind:

  1. The colors do not have to be exactly the same, just in the same color family. This is where you can get creative! Try different groupings of pieces in similar hues and see how they look together.
  2. If you wear the same color shoe as your clothes, or if the pant has a slight flare and seam down the middle, you have instantly added a few inches to your height!

The goal here is to have fun and be a bit daring. Add some excitement to your wardrobe without spending a lot of money. Send me photos of yourself wearing your monochromatic looks and I will share them on the site! You can also send me photos privately if you want to make sure you have gotten the look right. NONE of the photos will be posted without your consent!

Until next week,
